PhD position in motivic homotopy theory

Posted by Andreas Holmstrom on October 26, 2011

An excellent opportunity to work as a PhD student with Vladimir Guletskii in Liverpool, on motivic homotopy theory and motivic zeta functions. Some more details on the precise idea of the project can be found here, and some related preprints by Guletskii are here. The application deadline has now been changed to 31st May 2012 – see the comment of Vladimir below!

  1. The application deadline for this vacancy has now been changed. The very latest date for starting the grant is 31st May 2012. As an exception, it is also possible to start it by the middle of summer 2012, asking for an extension later.

Overseas students are welcome but only the home fees will be covered by EPSRC.

Initial applications (detailed CV and Personal Statement on research) can be emailed to

    Dr. Vladimir Guletskii.

My name is Alexander Cruz Cigarroa and live in Mexico, I am a graduate student at UNAM under the tutelage of Dr. Francisco Marmolejo Rivas, who also did my undergraduate thesis. I am interested in algebraic geometry, category theory and motives. Dr. Marmolejo sent me an e-mail to study motivic homotopy theory motivic zeta functions, and I keep investigating furthermore on the subject, as the notes of John Baez and liked it much. I wonder what are the requirements that I must submit to apply for the scholarship, because i dont have a very high level of english, or if I can apply in the future in order to meanwhile study English.

    Thanks you for your attention.
    Regards
