Postdoc position in Oslo (topology including motivic homotopy theory)

There is a vacant position as postdoctoral fellow for 2 years from September 2013 within the project “Topology in Norway”.

The aim of this postdoctoral project is to perform research and aid in the supervision of graduate students within the program “Topology in Norway”. A long list of postdoc opportunities

Having been through the process of finding and applying for postdoc positions in Europe over the last couple of years, here is now the big list that I wished someone had given me a few years ago.

PhD position in motivic homotopy theory

An excellent opportunity to work as a PhD student with Vladimir Guletskii in Liverpool, on motivic homotopy theory and motivic zeta functions. Some more details on the precise idea of the project can be found here, and some related preprints by Guletskii are here. The application deadline has now been changed to 31st May 2012 – see the comment of Vladimir below!

Temporary lecturer positions in number theory, Nottingham

Two positions open in Nottingham, 10-month contracts starting in Sep 2011, good pay. “Preference may be given to candidates whose research complements that of the School’s number theory group.” For more details, please get in touch with Ivan Fesenko.

Postdoc opportunities in Milano, deadline early July

The University of Milan has a general call for postdoc applications here. Within mathematics, they welcome applications within the following general subject areas (see pages 9 and 10 of the huge pdf file):

• Arithmetic on local and global fields, a topic suggested by Fabrizio Andreatta.
• Geometry and moduli of algebraic varieties (Bert van Geemen)
• Analysis and geometry on CR and Riemannian manifolds (Marco Maria Peloso)
• Categorical algebra for applications in (non-abelian) homological and universal algebra (Sandra Mantovani)

Positions can be held for up to 4 years. The deadline is 6 July 2011, and applications must be submitted by post.
